SGC all about me challenge

Hello Blog-land! Wow has it been a crazy month for Andiepants. Lost my mojo for a minute there and had to find it again. My room was soooooo tore up that my crafty GF came and helped me clean my house. Although she only shoved craft stuff into bags it really helped me to focus and cleared my table...all just in time to pack for a getaway where I stayed with my girl Kim...who is the newest member of the Swirlydoos DT!!!!

and while at Kim's I got to do tons of scrapping. To say my mojo came back would be an understatement.

Today I'm briefly going to share with you a LO for the swirlygirls challenge...All about me.

For this LO I used Prima Princess papers, tag, wood embellies, and typewriter keys. While out of town scrapping with my girl I got a ZVA swirl to go with these papers...and it was perfect!! 

The photo is a pic of me that my GF took while I was on my scrappy visit last weekend.

  

I decided for the chandelier that I wanted some of the elements different so I used 2 different embossing powders. Both came in the January swirly kit. I used the Lindy's Hibiscus Rose Orange and Silver moon sapphire. The pink is soft and shabby...not a sharp pink. It blends so well with these papers (WHICH I AM TOTALLY IN LOVE WITH)

The corner piece is painted with gesso and the chicken wire is colored with Distress Markers.

Valentine's Giveaway and 7DOTS Domestic Goddess

I can't believe it's February already...but you know what that means...

VALENTINE'S DAY!!!

And what would Valentine's Day be without hearts and love and 

BLECH!!!!

However, in the true spirit of valentine's, I decided to create a LO of my darling daughter and use the gorgeous Domestic Goddess line with all the glorious reds and pinks.

I adore how this LO turned out. I'm not much of a red scrapper so I was really surprised at what ended up on the page. 

 Here is a closeup of my fussy cut pieces. I used the Raspberry pudding paper from the Domestic Goddess line and fussy cut some of the lace shapes. The clock is piece of Prima packaging and the bling is a piece of Prima cut into various sections.

For the cluster up in the corner I used a Tim Holtz layering stencil and a Kaisercraft script stamp over it. Layering the inking is one of my favorite techniques. The Chipboard piece is Dusty Attic and is covered with Art Anthology Dimensional velvet. This stuff is FANTASTIC!!! Kim carries all sorts of colors in the eP store! Just click on the link on the right side of my blog under "supplying your obsession".

For the large heart piece of DA chipboard I used the dimensional velvet again and then sprayed with Lindy's in Poinsetta red gold. I made it darker on the corner to more splattered here on the edge and then went over the bottom edge with distress ink. I love faded effects.

The flowers are Petaloo and were originally pink but I went over them with Silks glazes in Va Va Voom red to make this dark rich color. So much fun to customize my embellies.

Welcome to December!!

WHAT?!

I know right?!

At any rate...mojo took a vacation and now she's back. It's been a really tough month creatively, however I got the privilege...nay the honor...of chaperoning for my 2 oldest boys electronics weekend for boyscouts. 

How on earth does this relate to scrapping?

Well, one of the committee members happens to be a scrapper too (and a pretty great gal to hang with), so she and I were talking one year and decided that the chaperones would scrap while the boys played with their electronics (aka video games). 

Of course walking into a full on weekend after a month's hiatus and no mojo is a pretty daunting experience. Never-the-less I emerged with this:

My brother was just married in June and what a better Christmas present than a home made inspirational canvas for him and his new bride to hang in their home. 

This was also the project that I was able to use for the eP 12 days of Christmas. We were promoting Wendy Vecchi embossing paste...and just what do you think is ALL OVER this canvas?

I adore the combination of colors on this canvas and the way the colors seep into the embossing paste. The tree is actually a piece of Fab Scraps Chipboard from an odl Swirlydoos kit! Crazy huh?

I used Prima's Finn line of vintage papers for the background with TH tissue paper, some washi tape, and some drywall tape. All of my paper flowers are hand cut and made and the zipper flowers are from a roll purchased from Melissa Frances. 

The brown tones on the lower right side are the Donna Downey Unity stamp that I purchased through eP. It's gorgeous but I was a little disappointed that it ran. I do love the shadowy look witht he stark stamping of the black images. What a contrast.

For the lettering I spritzed with smooch so they would stand out from the background a tad. Again I used another piece of Finn paper for the letters which is where the font you can see peeking here and there came from. The quote is actually from a stamp set that I own but I don't remember whom they are quoting.

I finally decided to pop in over at Swirlydoos and see what was going on with my swirly sisters. 

When I saw that my girl Kim was hosting a challenge...I knew I had to join in. What better way to keep the mojo going?

For the November swirly girls challenge we had to use everything but the kitchen sink. No less than 4 different mediums and it had to be inspired from your fav artist. Of course my fav artist is Finn...always has been.

She posted a blog post about a new blanket she bought and fell in love with that inspired her pages. How ironic that I just bought a new fluffy Sherpa blanket that I am in love with too!

This would be my color inspiration for my LO along with Finn's style:

The brown Dylusions spray turned a tad bit rusty colored on this LO but I still love the rust feel of it. All the layers, and the metal, the chipboard, the paper, the pearls....plus that photo!!! Cutest kids EVER!!! (If I do say so myself)  I forced them out to Stepping Stones Falls for a photo shoot one night after school. It was getting dark fast but they all were very good sports. From the photos I have deduced that mommy needs more work with her camera.

I hope you enjoyed the re-emergence of my mojo. I still haven't shared all the lovely creations from my weekend with my eP cronie Erin in WV so there will be lots of blogging to come.

Challenge Accepted!!!

For the month of April I am hosting the swirly girl challenge over at Swirlydoos.com . This month the challenge is sloppy spring cleaning!

Personally I have kits from the past that have piled up. Kits that I LOVE but just did not have time to use. I began breaking apart my kits and dispersing their parts into my stash...but there were a few that I just could not bring myself to break apart. I loved their coordination SOOOO much that I just HAD to leave them as a kit and use their components together. 

In honor of spring cleaning I decided to start using those kits. First for my husband's birthday I decided to make him a layout instead of a card. I used the Sept 2012 kit: Inspiration from Swirlydoos.com 

I absolutely love the resist paper!! The background is created using TH Distress Stain in Barn Door, Lindy's Moonshadow Mist in Bucket O Blood, and TA glimmer mist in burnt red.

The card on the bottom reads "Your not so secret admirer" and is the card that he sent with the first flowers he ever gave me.

 There was so much Prima goodness in this kit it was unreal. I loved the little light bulbs too. Notice the little wooden piece reads "romantic"

 I HAD to use the little hanging baubles...I really just adored them. The leaves and swirls are Heartfelt Creations. 

This was to cover a mistake. The little black bits of bling are actually Pearl Pen in black. I got an air bubble in the pen that decided to erupt all over my page. I made the little tear away and used the Glitz bling to cover the sloppy boo boo.  

For the challenge over at Swirlydoos.com I used a kit from the fall of 2011 called Midnight Waltz. It was one of my favorite kits and I never even had a chance to bust it out until now.

Twists for this challenge are:

 to use chipboard/wood pieces...

 Use border punches...

 Use texture of some sort...bead gel...modeling paste...masking...paper tearing...etc

And of course to use a previous kit from Swirlydoos.com

Prima inspiration

I absolutely adore the Prima design team for their wonderful talent and inspiration! I decided to lift a Prima LO and do some super chunky layering and embellishing using the October Swirlydoos kit.

Unfortunately I didn't take any closeups.

The gears are from Spellbinders "gadget gears" die. I painted them with Lumiarte products. The teal color is called sea breeze. It's found in the primary elements pigment powders. I mixed it with the clear silks in order to make a paint out of it. The orange is a custom made color using yellow, emperor gold, and harvest gold. I also dripped the paint around the page. I made the large flower with the giant amber center using the Tim Holtz tattered florals die. The rose to the left of the picture is made using Spellbinders "blossom 1" die. The picture is a pic of my youngest 3 kids with my niece and nephew at the zoo a couple of years ago. I just wanted to showcase the group of them so there is no journaling.
I really adore the LO and I give full props to the Prima blog for the inspiration.

This is another LO using the Swirlydoos October kit. I submitted this Lo for a challenge over at Swirlydoos. The mustard color again is a custom color. This page was so simple and easy...I just loved how fast it came together. It was nice to not have to antagonize over every single detail.

Kaisercraft Tiny Woods

Yours truly was asked to design and teach a class at her local scrapbook store! I was so flattered and excited. I was asked to use Kaisercraft's Tiny Woods collection. It was so cute and inspiring but maybe because I'm partial to owls.

The pictures are not the best so I apologize up front for that. The layout features my middle son and our family dog Buddy.  I used a masking technique for the stamps in the lower right corner and of course Luminarte silks paints for the splatters and drips. 

I wanted to come up with a different way of using Mudd Puddles other than the typical "sand on  the page". So...I made a mask using my Cricut and made flowers and dots using the Mudd Puddles.

Flowers are by Kaisercraft as well. The brown flowers were cut out on my Big Shot with the TH tattered florals die.

I just adored this paper.

This week's Ultimate Designer Challenge over at Swirlydoos was to make a canvas using multiple layers of mediums. Just my luck, I had been planning a canvas as a gift and just hadn't made the leap from my head to the canvas yet. What a perfect opportunity to bring my idea to life.

This is a 12x16 canvas. There are layers of gesso, paint, Mod Podge, modeling paste, matte medium, gel medium, moon shadow mist, and glaze all over this thing. The best part is that the odds n ends that were used were all just leftovers in my stash or random parts that but hubby brought home for this specific purpose.

This cross is my favorite part of the whole canvas. It was just a plain wood laser cut that is sold at my local dollar store. I purchased a few for making cards for perople at church and such and it just turned out perfect with the seed beads. The gears and key hole are left over parts from previous projects and the bricks are modeling paste and a Prima mask.

The zipper was perfect!! Garage sale find!!!  The piece behind the R is a napkin ring piece that I disassembled. 

I can't wait to present this canvas, I really love the way it turned out.

Swirlydoos Designer Challenge Week 3

Things are moving fast over at Swirlydoos.com for their Ultimate Design challenge. We are nearing the end of week 3 which means we are halfway through already! 

This week Miranda decided to challenge us with using foil tape. Um HELL-UR? Did anyone see my submission for week 1? PPPFFFSSSTTT...I got this;)

The panel I designed was so large and I really liked all the surface area so instead of cutting it down to a tag I decided to cover a dollar store notebook with it. P.S. I LOVE Alice in Wonderland.  And if you are wondering where I got those fab tags my stamping is on...they are Prima packaging. Yes...packaging. 

 Here is a close up of the background made with the foil tape. I used various colors of alcohol ink and then topped them with the pearl mixative. I sanded to allow the metal to show through on the raised areas and then edged the whole thing with black Staz-On. 

I really loved the idea of contrasting the harsh metal with the soft layers of lace and trim. So pretty.  

The flower showing the hint of pink was made using the Spellbinders rose creations. I used a tutorial from over at swirlydoos.com...coventry rose. Check it out...Pascale is fantastic with handmade flowers. The pen nib says "journal" and the sentiment reads "Why sometimes I've believed as many as 6 impossible things before breakfast".

I really had a lot of fun making this. I can't wait for the next challenge on Monday.

Boyhood

Fall is here! Leaves are blowing everywhere and there is a crisp smell in the air. I finally have found some scrappy time and got my camera fixed! That's right...I'm back. I attempted some pics with my phone but to say they were awful would be an understatement. So now htat my camera is back I have taken pics of my work and the blog is back on a roll.

I sat down one night and decided that after 2 years of having these Heidi Swapp star masks I would finally put them to use. I had been plotting to layer them (as you see here) but did not have a specific LO or idea in mind at the time. I am ecstatic with this page and the way this turned out.

 This is a pic of my DH and my middle son Colin taking a ride around the neighborhood on daddy's bike. Paper is Prima Almanac collection.

 Dollar store flowers layered. Coloring is TH Distress Stain in faded Jeans and Glimmer Mist in Dark Denim.

The wire piece is done free form.  The sticker boarder is K & Co and the splatters are TH stains in Dark Denim.
