PaperHaus and eclectic Paperie

I have some VERY exciting news to share!

I have been invited to the eclectic Paperie design team!!! I am so excited to become a part of such a talented group of ladies.

This is just in time for the 1 year anniversary of PaperHaus online magazine!!! Check out the latest edition of this amazing magazine! The Fall Splendor event is filled with inspiration from PaperHaus and the eclectic Paperie team so make sure you click through each blog for inspiration! Enjoy the hop and remember that the Fall Splendor Blog Hop runs from September 1st to the 15th so plenty of time to be inspired!

Here's a fall LO I created for eclectic Paperie to inspire you:

and some close ups:

The stamps are all from the same stamp set from Close to My Heart.

The flowers are made using the Spellbinders die Blossom 1 and the smaller buds are dollar store finds.

I covered the bird cage first with green gelato, followed by a layer of crackle accents, and finally a layer of Distress Crackle paint in black.

I hope you enjoyed the layout and be sure to look through the PaperHaus Fall issue.

Hugs,
Andiepants

Happy Saturday Bloggers!!!

Today I'm going to show you 3 different ways that you can color your mod melts from the Swirlydoos tech kit this month.

Don't have mod melts? You can use these same techniques to color resin, textured chipboard, and anything else that you want.

The kit this month is over-the-top GORGEOUS!!! The warm browns mixed with the light blues and a hint of teal are just phenomenal to work with. This kit works spectacularly with sepia photos and antiqued photos. Here is the sketch this month provided by Beggahuna

Here's my take on the sketch.

If you have never worked with paper soft by Viva...you are in for a real treat. The image is so crisp and clean and bold with no bleeding or smudging. It's wonderful

Here you can also see the Viva modeling cream that was included in this month's add on. I can't say enough positive things about it. The fleur-de-lis in the upper corder and rose in the lower corner are the mod melts included in this month's tech kit. This month the education team videos will be showcasing how make, work with, and color these wonderful little creatures by Mod Podge.

Speaking of which...here are a couple of canvases that I've made using the mod melts as multi-media pieces.

On this canvas, before adding color, I mixed seed beads in with the Viva modeling cream (which came in this month's add on) and smeared the beads all over the canvas. Once dry I applied my color beginning with spray and later with the silks. This is the result. The beads created the striations in the cream by dragging them through! I loved the result.

Here is a closeup of a couple of the mod melts with the color applied. Don't you love how they blend and work together?

This canvas you can see in my step by step video. the layers and steps are exactly the same for these 2 canvases.

Here is a closeup of some of the mod melts colored with silks glazes and rubbed with the Inka Gold by Viva in copper.

Here is the step by step so you can make your very own canvas too!

I Challenge You...

Is it truly September already?! The children are going back to school, sports are starting up, church groups and Bible studies are ramping up, community clubs are planning their first meetings, and all this means less time for play, less time for conversation, and less time to pause and just enjoy the moments.

The other day my twins missed the bus and I woke up for work late. Translation...frantic, hectic, and crazy. In all the craziness I kissed my son Colin good-bye and his cheeks were so soft and sweet. While driving from the twins school to work I paused in the silence of my car and reflected on that small simple kiss. I reflected on the moment and remembered other moments snuggling with my children and their soft cheeks. (I  love baby cheeks). I realized how crazy things are going to become and how crazy they are normally around my house. I miss my babies being small. My oldest baby now stand 5'10"!!! I snuggle his chest :(

That's when I decided what to do for the Swirly Girl Challenge over at Swirlydoos.com for September. I challenge you to close your eyes for just 10 minutes during the hustle and bustle...and just breathe. Think on a quiet moment...a moment of calm...and moment of happiness...and now...scrap it.

I found this picture my DH took of me snuggling and napping with my darling Aubrey Sue when she was just a couple of months old.

The papers, chippies, bling, and MOST of the flowers are Prima. They were purchased when I attended my class with Anna Dabrowska through Swirlydoos last Spring.

Here is a close up of the cluster. Where did I get that adorable bumble bee? Check back here on September 5th to find out ;)

I just love these birds and the Ingvald Bolme resin pieces are to die for.

So rise to my challenge...close your eyes...and just focus on something enjoyable before all the craziness begins for the fall.

Fussy Cut Layouts

Fussy cut layouts are all the rage in scrapbooking today...and I for one love them.

Here just a few fussy cut layouts that I have done:

Here's a step by step video how to create a fussy cut layout:

And here are some detail pics:

I love the way the cheese cloth turned out. I colored that with Lindy's Flat Fabio.

Here you can see all the different layers:

Mixed Media Layouts

It's Saturday which means another video from Swirlydoos.com.  Today I'm posting about mixed media layouts. I love mixed media layouts. Some of my most favoritist inspiration in the whole widi-est world are Finnibair and Solange Marques. If you have time, you should definitely scope them out.

Today I'm going to share a few mixed media layouts of my own. Remember with mixed media there is no right or wrong. Start with your biggest layers and get smaller and you layer more on top. As long as you keep this in mind you can do anything you want.

This is one that I made using the June 2012 swirlydoos kit for the July 2013 SGC over at swirlydoos.com

and some details

and here's another one of my favorite mixed media layouts (no close ups of this one):

Today my video over at the Swirlydoos channel shows how to make a mixed media layout similar to the Dr layout at the top of my blog. Go ahead...give it a try yourself and come upload your creation at swirlydoos.com.

Happy Scrapping
